Val Dion #66

After spending a number of years as a formidable Riot adversary on Vancouver’s Prime and RoughRiders, Val made the switch to Seattle ultimate in 2007. In 2009, Val gave up her brutal international commute for Riot practice and finally decided to make her move to Seattle official. Despite her battle for a U.S. driver’s license and being deemed an “alien,” Val was relieved to give up solo track workouts, early morning border crossings, and long email pleas for weekday practice details and inside jokes.

Val brings versatile talent to Riot’s roster as both a cutter and a handler. Her explosiveness and skill in the air make her an intimidating member of the backfield, equally threatening both underneath and deep. With her ability to bomb precision forehands deep, launch hammers far across the downfield space, and get off backhand breaks at will, Val is equally threatening in the handler space. And if that weren’t enough, Val takes on pulling duties as well, challenging offenses with bladey full-field bombs… when she manages to keep the disc inbounds, that is.

With phenomenal drive and work ethic, Val keeps the team focused and cranking on all cylinders, also providing occasional comic relief from hard workouts with her distinctive French Canadian accent that gives a special ring to phrases like "Dude, nice work Y'aaawwwwll!" and “Don’t forget your termarests!”
