Alyssa Weatherford #69

Alyssa started playing Ultimate in 7th grade and helped to lead Nathan Hale high school to Western and National titles. In the Seattle youth club Ultimate scene, she played with both MoHo and the YCC girls team. Currently, Alyssa captains the Western Washington University women's team, Chaos, which she has helped to build into a consistent and competitive program in the stacked Northwest region. In addition to her college ultimate duties, she is an exceptionally dedicated returning Riotess, making frequent trips down to Seattle from Bellingham for practice.

Attributing her awkward athletic style to never training in a mainstream sport before finding Ultimate, Alyssa is the master of trailing edge, cross-body grabs. She also has incredible vision as a Riot handler, which she executes with a full repertoire of creative throws, including pin-point-accurate blades. On the other side of the disc, Alyssa uses her long wingspan to set strong marks that lead to point block Ds and Riot scores.

When not at practice, Alyssa loves to float on Lake Washington in the beloved raft that she's had since the age of thirteen, refuse to bless people when they sneeze, and scold friends for mistreating pieces of the board game Settlers of Catan. Alyssa's intense sarcasm and willingness to speak her mind tend to unintentionally (and hilariously) lead everyone she meets for the first time to think that she hates them. However, this openness is one of her greatest traits as a teammate and friend, and it propels Riot to the highest levels of focus, passion and camaraderie.
