Alejandra "Aleja" Torres #1

Aleja marks an exciting new experience for Riot – our first international player. In Colombia, Aleja plays for two Ultimate teams called Revolution and Absolut and works training youth coaches. A member of the 2008 Colombian national team, she decided to try her hand at U.S. women’s Ultimate in 2009.

Primarily a defensive handler, Aleja brings to Riot the fastest fast-break this side of the border, a backhand huck so big that the wind-up strikes fear into the hearts of cutters, and unmarkable forehand breaks. When not clucking at her yellow lab, Juanita, Aleja stays busy taking notes on English Ultimate jargon and adapting to the Spanglish that most of Riot tosses her way (thank god for Bermi). She seems to have a particular knack for English sarcasm and is never slow to catch your joke from the other side of the field and threaten “you just wait until I get you to Colombia…”
