Announcing ECC 2012 - Aug 11-12

ECC has a long history of being one of the top tournaments of the season, and this year we hope to build on that tradition and make the tournament better than ever.

The weekend and location for this year's ECC are set for August 11-12, 2012 at Starfire Sports just outside of Seattle, WA.  This is an exciting new location for ECC that has incredible facilities and fields while being located just minutes from the airport and downtown Seattle.  No more slog up to Burlington!  Skip is the head TD for any general questions and Riot is running the 16-team women's division again this year.

While the exact format is not yet finalized, we are planning on having a women's Division I and Division II that allow teams to play most of their games against opponents of similar caliber, but with some guaranteed rounds of crossover play between divisions during the weekend.  Both divisions are expected to be highly competitive and we intend to sanction this tournament as part of the USA Ultimate regular season.

Our goal for Division I is to host as many quarter-finalists from 2011 USAU Nationals as possible, and to round out the tournament with other highly competitive US and international club teams.  Interested women's teams should submit a bid to captains@seattleriot.org with the following information:

  1. Team name
  2. Captains' contact information (email and phone)
  3. Highlights of team's recent results
  4. Preference for Div I or Div II play

This should be a premier tournament of the season that you don't want to miss. The following teams have already expressed interest in attending (* for 2011 USAU Nationals qualifier):

  • *Bent (New York, NY)
  • *Brute Squad (Boston, MA)
  • *Fury (Bay Area, CA)
  • LA Revolution (Los Angeles, CA)
  • *Molly Brown (Denver, CO)
  • *Nemesis (Chicago, IL)
  • New Bay Area team (Bay Area, CA)
  • *Ozone (Atlanta, GA)
  • *Phoenix (Triangle Area, NC)
  • Pop (Minneapolis, MN)
  • *Riot (Seattle, WA)
  • *Safari (San Diego, CA)
  • *Scandal (Washington, DC)
  • Schwa (Portland, OR)
  • Third Bay Area team (Bay Area, CA)
  • *Traffic (Vancouver, BC)
  • Underground (Seattle, WA)
  • Zephyr (Vancouver, BC)
  • Mexican team (Mexico)
  • Brilliance/Cosmic Girls (Russia)

We are planning on finalizing the list of teams in May (Division I) and June (Division II), so get your bids in soon as we are expecting more interest than spots in the tournament.

Thanks so much.  Hope to see you soon!
