Summer Solstice - June 18-19

Now that our roster is set, Riot is raring to go at the Summer Solstice tournament in Eugene, OR this weekend. This is our team's last weekend of play before we take a month break from practices, so it's our last chance to see how far we've come as a team during the spring. It's also a great opportunity for team bonding, and for the past few years Riot has made it a tradition to dress up for our first tournament after picking the team. Prior years' themes have included Riot Roller Derby, Zoot Suit Riot, and the Wizard of Riot. Without divulging too much about our theme for this year yet, I will say that everyone is excited to get our dance on.

The chance to re-match with Traffic in Saturday's showcase game is especially exciting after we lost 16-19 to the Canadians at Flowerbowl. We are keen to avenge ourselves as well as get an opportunity to see the defending National champs, Fury, for the first time this season. We'll be playing with a relatively small roster during the weekend as unfortunately Val, Bermi, Callie, and Lindsey are not expecting to play (due to prior obligations or injuries) and Rohre will only be there on Saturday.
