After a successful weekend playing at Flowerbowl and 5 weeks of intense try-out practices, the final decisions have been made for Riot's 2011 roster. Decisions like this are never easy, but the high caliber of players in Riot's try-out pool really made it especially hard this year. So much talent, athleticism, and desire. Everyone truly poured their heart into the entire try-out process, both new try-outs and returning Riots fighting for their spots.
Our try-out process culminated in the Flowerbowl tournament last weekend up in Vancouver, British Colombia. The past few years Riot has attended CalStates down in Santa Cruz, CA instead of Flowerbowl, but in the interest of saving some travel money this year we decided to stay more local. Definitely a great decision. Not only did CalStates get cancelled due to water-logged fields, but we couldn't have asked for a better weekend at Flowerbowl.
Riot will wrap up its try-out process this weekend (June 4-5, 2011) at the Flowerbowl tournament in Vancouver, BC. One of seven teams competing in the elite women's division, Riot is excited to kick-off the 2011 season after five long weeks of try-out practices. This will be our try-outs' last chance to earn a spot on the team as the final roster decisions for 2011 will be made Sunday night.
The Combine is now just a month away, and we are excited to get the 2011 season underway! Below are the details of what Riot try-outs entail and some FAQs for potential try-outs. Please e-mail the Riot captains, Gwen & Surge (aka Gwurge), if you have any remaining questions or have special circumstances we should know about.
Seattle Riot and Underground are pleased to announce this year's Combine. The Combine is the beginning of the try-out process for both teams and is the only open try-out for either squad.
Because Riot will be attending the World Ultimate Club Championships in Prague this July, our tryout process is happening earlier than usual and will have a slightly different structure than in the past.
