The Fall Series, Part II: Regionals

This season the women's Northwest region received four bids to the UPA Club National Championships in Sarasota - two automatic bids and two strength bids based on our region's performance at Nationals in 2008 (all three NW teams - Fury, Riot, and Traffic - advanced to the semifinals). With eight teams at Regionals, the Saturday tournament format consisted of two pools of four teams that played themselves out in three games apiece.

The Fall Series, Part I: Sectionals

Riot finished first in the initial round of the UPA Club series this weekend in Burlington, WA, playing in a round robin format against two other Seattle teams and two northern neighbors from Vancouver, BC. All sectional scores can be found on the score reporter at upa.org. Riot's results were as follows:

vs. Seattle's Underground: 15-4

vs. Seattle/Bellingham's Apartment 11: 15-0

vs. Vancouver's SFU: 15-0

vs. Vancouver's Traffic: 11-7

Labor Day Results

Riot went 5-1 on the weekend, winning pool play games over Ozone (15-10), Box (15-7), Zeitgeist (15-6), Safari (15-2), and Slackjaw (15-2). The team exited the tournament in semi-finals at the hands of Vancouver's Traffic (8-13).

The regular season has come to a close, and Riot's next action will be at Sectionals in Burlington, WA the weekend of September 19-20.

Labor Day

Riot is off to Santa Cruz this weekend (Sept. 5-6) to take on the best women's teams in the country in our last regular-season tournament, Labor Day. Our Saturday matchups include Ozone (Atlanta), Box (Colorado), Zeitgeist (Bay Area, CA) and Safari (San Diego, CA).

ECC Results

Riot finished the three days of ECC with an 8-1 record, losing one game to Japan's Uno and winning over Schwa, Bent, Backhoe, Zeitgeist and Fury in pool play. On Sunday, Riot toppled Brute Squad in quarterfinals and Colombia's Revolution to meet Fury again in the finals and earn a 14-9 tournament victory!

Our next tournament is Labor Day, September 5-6, in Santa Cruz, CA.

Emerald City Classic

Riot kicks off the Emerald City Classic tournament tonight (August 13) at Magnuson Park with the JamborECC spectator event - on turf and under the lights! The event features 8 teams, 10 games and 15-minute rounds. Admission is $5 or $3 with a DiscNW Camp Shirt or Team Jersey.
